Distinguished Scholars,
Manisa, which has been an important center of knowledge, culture, and civilization throughout history, has raised many scholars, Sufis, and intellectuals, and has played a significant role in shaping religious, social, and cultural life. Known as the “City of Princes” during the Ottoman period, Manisa also stood out as a prominent hub where scholarly activities and religious life flourished. Examining this rich historical and cultural heritage from an academic perspective is of great importance for better understanding the relationship between religion and life in contemporary society.
In this context, the “International Symposium on Religion and Life in Manisa from Past to Present” aims to address, through an interdisciplinary approach, the individuals, institutions, and intellectual traditions that have shaped the religious, social, and cultural life of Manisa throughout history. Within the scope of the symposium, topics such as Manisa’s scholarly and religious heritage, urban culture, Sufi tradition, educational institutions, mosque and waqf civilization, popular religiosity, and contemporary religious life will be discussed in an academic framework.
It is anticipated that this symposium, organized with the contributions of distinguished scholars, will make significant contributions to revealing Manisa’s religious and cultural heritage, encouraging new academic studies, and strengthening the collective memory of the city.
In this regard, we are honored to invite you, esteemed scholars, to participate in the “International Symposium on Religion and Life in Manisa from Past to Present” with your papers. Your valuable contributions will greatly enrich our symposium.
We wish the symposium to be fruitful and extend our sincere thanks to all participants for their efforts.
